ZAC'S ONLINE YEARBOOK

WINTER CLASSIC TIME

Time for Nipissing U's annual winter carnival, better known as Winter Classic...For the second year in a row, I put in a team, hoping to improve on our 4th place finish from the year before...4th out of 30 teams is not a bad feat! But still, we were looking to take home some hardware...This year's team would be called Sensa Mutande, and would be made up of some seasoned veterans, as well as some rookies...The first event was Flag Football, which we totally dominated, as predicted...The following evening, we headed to the Granite Curling Club for some curlin' action...Last year, curling was one of the 3 events(out of 15)that we did not manage to win, along with Bowling and, get this, Snow Soccer...Anyhow, this year we were hoping for a little bit of luck, and counting on the little experience we had...And fortunately, as opposed to last year, we ended up facing a team with no Nipissing Curling Team members...WHEW! Here are some pics from our night of curling

Marlene's turn, lookin' like a pro!

Paco, trying to relax a bit...Paco worked his @$$ off to make winter classic the big success it is, along with Vito

Well, after 3 sessions, did we have what it took to get the 3 points?

Of course we did! And it wasn't even close! Left to right; Chippy, Myself, Nico & Carlo D...#1 for a reason

So we were off to a good start, with 6 pts. out of a possible 6...The next day was bowling, where we were also looking to improve on last year's result...Unfortunately, we didn't have what it took, and came up a little short in the end...A valiant effort nonetheless, and nothing to be ashamed of...So, going into Saturday's 12 events, we knew that we would (a) have to have fun, because that's the most important thing, right?!, and (b) have to kick some serious @$$ to have a chance at winning the whole thing...And that's exactly what we did...Thanks to some amazing athleticism as well as the occasional spell of luck, we were able to win our first 11 events on Saturday to bring us into contention...With only volleyball remaining, we were beginning to feel the pressure...Unfortunately, we ended up tied at the end of it, and would have to settle for 2 pts. out of 3...But that wasn't the end of it...Someone on the other team complained that we were cheating, and for some dumb reason the other team was awarded the 3 pts., meaning that we would only get 1 pt...So it was off to the presentations at the wall, fingers crossed, to see how we did...In the end, we finished up 3rd place out of the 30 teams with 13 wins and 2 losses...We were disappointed with the standings, but were still content on moving up one spot from last year.

Here is a pic of Sensa Mutande

Rest assured that we will be back next year, and as always, a serious threat to win it all!
A great weekend was had by all...Thanks to everyone who came out!
